Family and General Practice
From newborn to elderly, men's and women's health, Dr Chen and the FSFP team treat all aspects of family medicine and general practice in a holistic and compassionate manner. We are well versed in dealing with physical, psychological and mental health issues at all stages of life.
Full physicals and checkups can all be provided, together with appropriate investigations and referrals (if necessary) to quality specialists.
Paediatrics
"Dr Phil", as some paediatric patients call him, and the FSFP team will always endeavour to squeeze your precious paediatric parcels in for a same day appointment should they be sick and in need of urgent attention.
Early milestones and development is vital to a life of healthy living and Dr Phil and his team have the necessary experience to accurately monitor all the important stages of childhood development.
Skin Cancer Treatment
Dr Chen has expansive knowledge and practice in skin checks, treatment, excision and cryotherapy of many skin cancers including BCC, SCC, melanomas and pre-malignant skin conditions.
It is best to book a specific consultation solely for skin check ups, rather than in addition to other medical issues, as a proper skin check takes time. Most treatments and excisions can be performed in house by Dr Chen, however, if necessary, referrals can be made to the best possible dermatologists, specialist surgeons or plastic surgeons.
Minor Trauma
A visit to the local busy emergency department is often unnecessary, especially when the FSFP team can suture most lacerations, care for small fractures and dress small wounds. The Dr's and nurses at Francis Street Family Practice have had years of experience in the emergency ward at hospitals.
Workers Compensation
Our doctors and nurses are experienced in dealing with workers compensation, medical certificates and reports. We can ensure you are cared for appropriately and all paperwork is filled and filed correctly in accordance to law.
The FSFP team will manage and treat your workers comp issue proficiently, and help you recover from your injury in a timely manner. Dr Chen and his team have an array of very competent allied health and specialist providers that he is able to call upon if required.
DVA
Dr Chen and the FSFP team are happy and privileged to be treating our Veterans . Dr Chen is an approved Local Medical Officer, and has been for over 29 years and understands the complexities and issues of our Veterans, and how to deal with Veteran Affairs and the necessary paperwork....
Pre-employment Medicals
The team at FSFP are very familiar with conducting necessary pre-employment medical checks and filing the necessary paperwork with your employer.
Please contact reception to discuss the nature of your medical . Pre employment medicals differ from company to company and often have varying pro formas. Consequently fees and charges vary according to what is required. It may be necessary for FSFP to sight the paperwork in advance to determine costing and how long the medical consultation may need to be.
Dr Chen is also an authorised health professional for the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board, and can provide CAT 1,2,3 medicals.
Preventative Health
Early detection and prevention is the key to successful management of all medical conditions, and the FSFP team can guide you through the intricacies of preventative health and advise you what the most appropriate measures are. This can range from a consultation about important strategies and education, arranging necessary pathology or organising specific screening investigations.
Immunisations
Up to date immunisations are vital in ensuring healthy living. FSFP have the full range of immunisations and vaccines available, so they can be administered to you at the correct stage of life. From babies, to school age, to 70 year plus, Dr Chen and his Nursing staff are very experienced in administering the immunisations. 'Catch up immunisations' are also available.
Registered Nurse
Cheryl and Anne are our in-house registered nurses at FSFP. They are both very experienced in all aspects of nursing care. Wound care, dressings, immunisations, vaccinations, trauma and emergency services are all catered for at FSFP. ECG, spirometry, venepuncture, venesection and ear syringing can all be performed at the practice. Other roles performed by our nurses include EPC /care plan construction, health assessments (ATSI and standard), patient education and assisting in employment medicals and cervical screening.
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Francis St Family Practice is fortunate to have an excellent orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Michael Stening on site regularly. He has been consulting out of the practice since September 2021, and has vast experience in general orthopaedics , and in particular hip, knee and paediatric orthopaedic conditions. Head to Health
Francis St Family Practice is pleased to provide its facilities to accommodate the Hawkesbury Division of Head to Health Mental Health Services until such time they are able to source a permanent location for this area. They have been with us since December 2021. Head to Health is a government funded body that provides numerous mental health services to the community, including psychologists, counsellors, social workers and peer support. Travel Medicine
Dr Chen and the FSFP team can provide you with travel advice relevant to your health for all parts of the world. Vaccination is important when you travel, and FSFP can give you the correct information as to what is needed, and when. Most vaccines are stocked in house and available.
EPC/Care Plans
These care plans allow you to access rebates from medicare for allied health services, such as dietitian, podiatry, physiotherapy and many others. Our team at FSFP can advise you if you qualify for a care plan, and implement them if appropriate. Bookings for this require a much longer appointment and are generally Bulk Billed, however other medical issues cannot be dealt with at the same time and require a separate appointment on a different day.
Mental Health Care Plans
These care plans allow you to access rebates from medicare for counselling and pyschological services and are available for various mental health conditions . Dr Chen and the FSFP team can advise you if you qualify for this care plan and can implement them if appropriate . FSFP have access to a wide network of counsellors and psychologists to suit your needs. Bookings for this require a longer appointment and are generally bulk billed, however other medical issues cannot be dealt with at the same time, and require a separate appointment on a different day.
